

Mildred Rose Parham, age 95 of Scottsboro and formally of Athens, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Southern Estates Assisted Living Community. Mrs. Parham was born August 7, 1918 in Limestone County to James Bascom Rose, Sr. and Flora Vianna Casteel.
Services for Mrs. Parham will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at McConnell Funeral Home, Athens, AL at 2 p.m. Visitation will start 2 hours before the funeral. Burial will be in Dement Cemetery.
She was a longtime member of Eastside Church of Christ in Athens and later Broad Street Church of Christ in Scottsboro. She was a retired teacher at Monrovia Elementary School, and she traveled the U.S. and Canada extensively, including several years as a tour guide.
She is survived by her son, James Lynn Parham and wife Ann, daughter Jaxie Hargrave and husband Earl, one grandson, James L. Parham, Jr. and wife Jacklyn, five granddaughters, Karen Parham, Kathy Parham and husband Mark Woodard, Carol Bunn and husband David, Angela Carter and husband Eddie, and Beth Helms, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Bunn, Eddie Carter, Derek Bunn, D.J. Bunn, Justin Brown, and Jordan Helms.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kenon Parham, her parents, and her seven brothers and sisters.
