Ms. Mitchell was born May 12, 1953 in Limestone County to William L. Mitchell and Carolyn Joy Hardcastle Mitchell. She was a member of the Eckankar church in Huntsville, AL. She was a retired school teacher for the Decatur School System after 25 years of service.
Survivors include one brother, David Mitchell and wife Kathryn of Athens; one cousin, Lewis Hardcastle and wife Sandy of Sheffield, AL; and a host of friends.
There will be a memorial service Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Kidney Foundation or the Humane Society.
