Robert Johnson

— The funeral for Robert Pierce “Bill” Johnson, 80, of Athens will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McConnell Funeral Home with Causten Meaux Sr., Jeff Smith and Dr. Rick Craft officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral Home.

He died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at home.

Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 21, 1930. He was a retired businessman. His hobbies included gardening and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, O.G. and Margaret Leopard Johnson; three brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean T. Johnson of Athens; sons, Robert Pierce Johnson II and wife Diane, and Byron Lynn Johnson and wife Joy; daughters, Gwyndolyn Atkinson and husband Ray, and Molly Bullington and husband David; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Travis Harvey, Byron Lynn Johnson II, Blake Johnson, Eric Johnson, Austin Harvey, Zachery Johnson and Chase Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CASA Material Aid Fund.
