Visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2016 3-3:45 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Wood passed away Wednesday June 29, 2016 at Limestone Health Facility.
He was born May 15, 1927, in Limestone County, AL to Jesse Henry Wood and Nannie Mae McAllister Wood.
He worked as a chemist at NASA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Mable Irene C. Wood, two sisters, Mae Ruth Varnell and Betty Maude Wood, five brothers, Jesse Marion Wood, Jr., Willian David Wood, Billy Wood, Bobby Wood, and Gerald Wood.
He is survived by his special friend Evelyn Smith of Athens, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Wood, Dave Varnell, Tom Varnell, Scott Smith, Ronnie Wales, and Jeff Thompson.
Honorary Pallbearer will be John Wood.
