

William Eldridge Keenum, Jr., 84 of Athens, AL, passed away on February 13, 2026. Mr. Keenum was born on April 18, 1941, in Colbert County, AL; to Mr. William Eldridge Keenum, Sr. and Mrs. Virginia Thompson Keenum.
Mr. Keenum is survived by his three daughters, Mary Beth Nix (Eddie), Melanie Rose (Glenn), Selena Dean (Lance); one son James Keenum (Kristy); one brother John Keenum (Katherine); seven grandsons Will Rose, David Rose, Zachary Nix, Andrew Keenum, Wesley Dean, Jace Dean, and Lane Dean; and four granddaughters Lexi Morse Crabtree (Frazier), Carolyn Nix, Sarah Rose, and Savannah Dean.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Jeannine Keenum and one brother Robert (Buddy) Keenum.
Funeral services for Mr. Keenum will be Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at McConnell Funeral Home, with Phil Springer officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Thatch-Mann Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Will Rose, David Rose, Zachary Nix, Wesley Dean, Jace Dean, Andrew Keenum and Frazier Crabtree.
Mr. Keenum was a computer programmer. He worked on the Apollo and the Space Shuttle programs. He was a member of Athens First Methodist Church. William was often seen as a hard-working member of the Athens Lions Club, helping with the kiddie carnival or spotted watching one of his grandchildren at their sporting event. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who will always be remembered as an avid Alabama fan “Roll Tide”!
