

“Ben” was born on October 17, 1942 in Griffin, GA. He was a United States Marine from 1959-1963 with Honorable Discharge and he served in
Okinawa, Japan in various service including commanding an M50 Ontos Tank, officially the Rifle, Multiple 106 mm, a U.S. light armored tracked antitank vehicle.
After returning from service, he married Frankie Gilmore (deceased) and worked in the finance industry in Athens, GA. He later worked as self-employed including Concrete Forms of Athens where he was co-owner with Bill Thornton until he retired but continued to work at various locations and occupations. Ben was well known in Athens and around the country as a friend and inspiration to many.
He was the son of the late Benjamin Fritz Fuqua and Janie Mae Fuqua. Also preceding him in death was his nephew, Edwin Marshall Fuqua and sister-in-law, Casandra H. Fuqua.
He is survived by brothers, Andrew James Fuqua, Edwin George Fuqua and wife, Tracy Marie Fuqua; their children, Richard Phillip Fuqua, Emily Marie Fuqua and Leah Allison Fuqua.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 28 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
