Born in Winder, Mr. McElhannon was the son of the late Omer James McElhannon and Hattie Irene Cheatham McElhannon. He owned and operated B&G Welding until he retired, loved cars from the 1950s and 1960s, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nancy Lois Baugus McElhannon of Bogart; daughters, Donna McElhannon Eakin (Ron) of Rutledge and Angie McElhannon (Dave Walsh) of Bogart; grandson, William Cameron Eakin (Corissa) of Rutledge; and great-grandchildren, Bentley, River and Saylah.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 15, at 11:00 a.m., at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service, at Bernstein Funeral Home.
