Christie Burt Mann

Christie Burt Mann, 84, beloved wife of 56 years to Joseph Edward Mann, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Born in Clarke County, Christie was the daughter of the late James and Bessie Bullock Burt and grew up in Whitehall.

Christie raised her family in Oconee County while working as a telephone operator with AT&T. Following her retirement, she lovingly dedicated her life to caring for her family members. She will be remembered for her quiet strength and unwavering devotion to those she loved.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph, and her two daughters, Denise (Mark) Clore of Seneca, South Carolina, and Kim (Chris) Ethridge of Tucker, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bessie Burt; brother, James Alton Burt; and sister, Betty Kilgore.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3655 Atlanta Highway, Athens, Georgia. Rev. Dennis Cook will officiate.

Christie had a lifelong love of cats and cared for many in her lifetime. A memorial donation in her name may be made in lieu of flowers to a local animal charity of your choice.
