Born in Cedar Falls, IA, Mrs. Riley moved to Georgia during her elementary school years, a daughter of the late Richard F. Gorman and Doris A. Shinneman Gorman, who were both career educators. She graduated from the University of Georgia and was a retired teacher with Barrow County Schools.
During her teaching career, she piloted the Child Find Program, which included educating community agencies and school representatives in order to enlist their aid in identifying children at risk. Another accomplishment was her involvement in the instruction of children who were considered minimal readers.
Survivors include husband, Doug Riley of Athens; daughters, Keelyn Crawford (Kelly) of Flagstaff, AZ, Keri Moss (Perry) of Jefferson and Megan Riley Wilson of Baldwin; brothers, Dr. Richard Gorman of Gulfport, MS and Douglas F. Gorman of Broken Arrow, OK; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her two dogs, Honey and Pippi.
