Eddie Poe Crafton, a resident of Winterville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on July 26, 1929, Eddie was a native and former resident of Arkansas, and the son of the late Edgar Poe Crafton and Louticia Gage Crafton.
A proud farmer, Eddie was named Farmer of the Year in 1965 and was notably the first farmer to have a mechanical cotton picker. His contributions to agriculture were significant and remembered by many.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was predeceased by ex-wife, Wilma Jean Easterwood Crafton and their children, Peggy Jean Higgins and Eddie Michael Crafton. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Marlyn Rae Crafton.
Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Mae Crafton; stepdaughter, Jenni Akeley, and her husband Vince; stepson, Steve Welborn; brother, Bob Crafton, and his wife Bonnie. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Eddie Ross Landreth and his wife Rhonda, and Laura Landreth, as well as great-grandchildren, Michael and Sierra.
In addition to his farming achievements, Eddie was a Mason and enjoyed bowling and golf, pursuits that brought him much joy throughout his life.
The family plans a memorial service in Arkansas at a later date to honor Eddie's life and legacy.
