Will Chamberlin, 57, died peacefully in his sleep early Friday morning in his home in Watkinsville. A native of Homerville, GA, he was raised in Gadsden, Alabama, where he graduated from Gadsden High School and even served as the school mascot. He graduated from Georgia Tech and worked as an industrial engineer for Reliance Electric for 20 years. In 1989, Will and his friend Mark Morris started Classic Race Services, a company that facilitates road races throughout the southeast.
Will is survived by his parents, George and Annette Chamberlin, of Gainesville, FL, a brother Daniel, of Taiwan, a son Daniel, of Watkinsville, and his companion of seven years, Carole Black.
He loved the outdoors, particularly running and caving, and served on the board of Sandy Creek Nature Center. He loved to sing and sang in church choirs his entire adult life. He was a beloved member of the choir at First Presbyterian Church, where he also served as an elder.
A memorial service will be held 5PM Sunday, April 11th, at First Presbyterian Church, 185 E. Hancock Avenue, Athens, GA 30601. Visitation will take place before the service at 3pm and immediately after the service. An interment will be held at a later date in Homerville.
