

Born in Homer, GA on November 22, 1915, Mrs. Head was the last surviving child of the late William Hardy Meeler and Laura Denver Borders Meeler and was preceded in death by first husband, Ray W. Burrell; second husband, Horace Head; daughters, Betty Williams and Faye Davidson; son-in-law, Wayne Williams; 6 brothers, and 3 sisters. She was retired after many years from Statham Garment Sewing Plant and was the very first original charter member of New Covenant Worship Center in Athens, GA which was established in 1980. Mrs. Head was a true lover of all varieties of flowers. Her passion in life was loving her family by example. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and a dear friend to many.
Survivors include son, Lee Burrell and wife, Emma of Watkinsville; daughter, Mary Savage and husband, Bobby of Athens; daughter, Lillie Dawson and husband, Dan of Bishop; son, Bill Burrell and wife, Sheila of McDonough; son, Milton Burrell and wife, Frankie of Hull, and son, Jim Head and wife, Marilyn of Athens; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2PM Friday, January 6th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev Howard Conine officiating. Interment will follow at Bogart Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday, January 5th at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Grandsons, Tim Savage, Chris Dawson, Trent Dawson, Britt Dawson, Billy Burrell, and Jake Savage will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Young and Jeffrey Burrell.
