Gladys Jordan

Born in Banks County, Mrs. Jordan was the daughter of the late James Cicero Brown and Martha Jane Brown. Mrs. Jordan was employed with Thomas Textile Company in the design studio for many years. She was a longtime member of East Athens Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jordan is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles Verner Jordan, Sr., five sisters, Ruby Irene Brown Ireland, Laura Pearl Brown, Rosa Lee Brown Beck, Lillie Marie Brown Patrick, and Kathleen Brown, and grandson-in-law, Allen Reece Colley III.

Survivors include daughter, Carol Linda Jordan Akins of Winterville; son, Charles Verner Jordan, Jr. of Nicholson; sister, Alice Brown Williams of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Frances Elizabeth Akins Colley of Atlanta; grandson, Charles Verner Jordan III and granddaughter-in-law, Meg Galloway Jordan of Atlanta; grandson, Zachary Caleb Jordan of Atlanta; great-granddaughters, Caroline Frances Colley and Madelyn Ruth Colley of Atlanta and Holly Marie Greene of Athens; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, May 3rd in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Wuerzer officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2PM prior to the service.

Charles Jordan III, Dwight Kinney, Mike Williams, Zachary Jordan, Wyatt Martin, and Wayne Arnold will serve as pallbearers.

William Adams, Marvin Adams, Waymon Kelley, Sid Christopher, and Roger Murray will serve as honorary pallbearers.
