

A native of Columbus, GA, Mr. Davis was the son of the late Horace Greeley Davis, Sr. and Eva Roberts Davis. His wife Mary Ruth Davis preceded him in death, as did his sister, Emily Davis Slade.
He graduated from Columbus High School in 1946, attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega, served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant, and completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees in business at The University of Georgia. Horace had a long career as an accountant in the University of Georgia business office, including teaching accounting in the UGA night school.
Mr. Davis was active in the Athens Lions Club, Toastmasters, and sang in the choir for many years at Prince Avenue Baptist Church. More recently, Mr. Davis served as a deacon at Cleveland Road Baptist Church, and learned to play the dulcimer at age 74.
Survivors incluse his sisters, Ginnie Crouch Parris, Eva Davis Breedlove, and Mary Anna Campbell; niece, Karen Adams; and special friend, Gwen Horne; and nearly 50 other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Friday at Bernstein Funeral Home.
