Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of George Howard Drewry and Mattie Thelma Drewry and was born in Birmingham, AL. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles Miller Johnson, and her brother, George Putnam Drewry.
Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Athens High and attended The University of Georgia. She was a faithful member of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church since its inception in 1958 and taught their primary age Sunday school class for nearly fifty years.
Mrs. Johnson was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her daughters Laura Jean Johnson, Athens; Mary Johnson Sumner, Watkinsville; and Carol Johnson White (Bob), Athens; and granddaughter Laura Payne White, Athens.
A service will be held on Wednesday March 8th at 11:00 AM at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church, Athens, GA, with Dr. Nathan Byrd and Reverend Barbara F. Epting officiating. Interment will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery, Athens, GA.
The family will welcome guests afterwards at a reception in the Sexton House on the Oconee Hill Cemetery property.
