Joseph Mutter III

A native of The Bronx, New York, Mr. Mutter was the son of the late Joseph Mutter Jr and Ruth Olsen Mutter. He graduated from University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. A certified addiction counselor II with Northeast Georgia Mental Health for 11 years, Mr. Mutter dedicated his life to helping the community with his work after retirement in the Athens area. He was an avid fisherman and known affectionately to his grandchildren as “Papa”.

Survivors include his daughter, Juliette Valdivia of Athens; sister, Maureen Jamison of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Alyssa Valdivia, Victoria Valdivia, and Caleb Hayes, and great-grandson, Conner Valdivia.

A memorial service will be held 4PM Sunday, August 7th at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1065 Gaines School Rd, Athens, GA 30605. The family will receive friends from 2-4PM prior to the service in the church gathering room.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Juliette Valdivia, 3195 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, GA 30606 and these donations will be forwarded to Mr. Mutter’s favorite charity.
