Mr. Davenport was born on February 9, 1937 in Union County, Ga. to William Jewel and Rachel Tatum Davenport. He attended and served as a deacon at Dry Branch Church in Perkins, Ga. After retiring from Xerox Corporation, he enjoyed traveling and woodworking.
He is preceded in death by his siblings Anne Davenport and Joyce Davenport Bryans, and survived by Maudane Webb, Maurice Davenport (Gloria), Carol Carlotta (Michael), and Kent Davenport (Joyce).
He is survived by his wife Jean Saxon Davenport, children Sharon (Brian) Edenfield of Athens, Ga., Eric (Rebecca) Davenport of Columbus, Ga., Hope (Ralph) Reynolds of Blairsville, Ga., grandchildren Jason (Michele) Edenfield of Lilburn, Ga., Lauren (Ryan Fisher) Edenfield of Athens, Ga., Lydia (John) Velando of Tampa Fla., Anna Laura (Moby) von Briesen of Atlanta, Ga., Wesley Davenport of Lakeland, Fla., Sarah, Reynolds, of Blairsville, Ga., Noel Reynolds, of Blairsville, Ga., Trenton Reynolds of Blairsville, Ga., Joseph Reynolds of Blairsville, Ga., and great-grandson Cooper Edenfield of Lilburn, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be held at the home of Sharon and Brian Edenfield on July 16 at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Dry Branch Church Cemetery, Perkins, Ga., at a future date.
