Luisa N. Bernales-Marquina, who loved to be called “Picha” by her husband and siblings, “Mami” by her kids and “Abuela or Mami” by her grandkids, was born in Lima, Peru on March 3, 1942. She entered Heaven’s gates on March 19, 2021.
A loving, dedicated, loyal mother and wife. Raising four equally dedicated, loyal, hard working children. Luisa was a cheerleader and constant supporter of her boys.
“Our family would not be where it is today if we didn’t have Mami as a mother.”
Luisa was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She worked many years at Wilkins Industry and before retiring at St. Mary’s Hospital.
She loved traveling, exercising, dancing and watching telenovelas. As a small child she played several sports; soccer, basketball, volleyball and raced bicycles.
She loved clothes and high heel shoes (the taller the better). She was a fashionista before her time. She was even given the nickname of “Aunt Hollywood” by her nephews.
Most of all she loved her four boys and instilled in them strong work ethics that have served them well. She was the happiest when she had them all together.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years, Angel Bernales; her sons Miguel (Tim) of Savannah, GA, Roberto of Bogart, GA, Carlos of Watkinsville, GA, and Edgardo (Toyia) of LaVergne, TN; grandchildren, Krystle Shuman (Derek), Lauren Bernales (Maura), Channing Brown (T. Cole), Blayke Mullman (Sam), Cruzz, Connor, Jace, Thalia, Nikko and Rio Bernales; great-grandchildren, Rylee Shuman and Ellison Brown; sisters, Maria Medina, Rosa Suarez, Flor de Maria Diez Brune and Lupe Brune.; brothers, Manuel Marquina and Gilberto Marquina; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family thanks everyone for the prayers and thoughts during her illness and sends their greatest and warmest gratitude.
