Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late John Phillip Whelchel and Sally Bell Peavy Whelchel. She was a homemaker and the widow of Robert Lewis Smith Jr.
Survivors include daughters, Jill Griffin (Brian) of Jefferson and Janice Wilkes (John) of Bogart; son, Tommy Smith of Jefferson; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Burial will be private.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at Bogart Community Center.
