Nanette W. Burgess

Prior to Monroe, she lived in Athens-Clarke County. She was born in the Sanford Community of Madison County. Her parents were Dock and Ina Whitehead Watkins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Boyd Martin Burgess and great-granddaughters, Taylor and Riley Borders and sister, Dora Watkins Phillips.

She worked for many years at Belk Department Store in Athens retiring in 1991. She was a devoted member of Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Richard Boyd Burgess of Atlanta; a daughter Patsy Burgess Webb (Charles) of Watkinsville; a granddaughter, Kellie Webb Borders of Watkinsville; great-grandchildren, Brittney Edwards (Andy), Robert Boyd Young and Jackson Lee Borders of Watkinsville; great-great grandchildren, William, Kade and Emalyn Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Young Harris United Methodist Church, 973 Prince Avenue, Athens, GA 30606.
