A native of Clarke County, Mr. Wheeler was a son of the late Ben Wheeler and Ethel Martin Wheeler. He was a self-employed trucker known by his trucking friends as “Handy Man.”
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wheeler was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Tyner Wheeler and son, Chipper Wheeler.
Survivors include grandchildren, Brittany Wheeler of Athens and Clifford Wheeler of Atlanta; great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Fortner of Athens; sister, Gloria Fouche (Ed) of Athens, brothers, Fred Wheeler (Brenda) and James “Donnie” Wheeler (the late Diane), all of Greensboro; a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 16 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park.
