

Pansy S. Duncan, age 101 years, passed away on Palm Sunday, April 17, at Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital in Atlanta. She was a dedicated Christian who was born in High Shoals, GA on May 7, 1909, daughter of A. D. and Mary Williams Shelnutt. She was a life long member of First Baptist Church in Athens, who lived most of her life in Athens before moving to Decatur in 1993 to live near her daughter, Billie Ruth Duncan Carroll. Widow of William Hull Duncan, who died in 1977, Pansy Duncan was an exceptional cook, seamstress and homemaker. In addition to attention given her granddaughter Laura Carroll Lynn and three great grandchildren – Taylor, Amelia and Elissa – she was an avid fan of tournament golf, Atlanta Braves baseball and Georgia Bulldogs football. Services for Mrs. Duncan will be held at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel in Athens on Thursday, April 21 at 2:00 PM, with family visitation beginning at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens. Other survivors include Van Eugene Carroll, son-in-law, and Robert Keith Lynn, grand son-in-law, plus many nieces and nephews.
