Born November 2, 1973, in California, she was the daughter of Donald Nelms and of the late Patricia McGinnis Nelms.
She was a 1992 graduate of Wadena-Deer Creek High School in Wadena, Minnesota, and moved to the Athens area in 1994.
Shanon enjoyed going to Disney World with her family and was her children’s biggest fan. She loved watching her son, Jonathan, play baseball and football and her daughter, Abigail, play softball. She never missed their games. Above all, she loved her kids more than life.
She was determined and a devoted family woman whose life was rooted in love for her family and steadfast support of those closest to her.
Survivors include her husband, William “Bill” Chappell; son, Jonathan Chappell; daughter, Abigail Chappell; father, Donald Nelms; sister, Lori Patel and brother, Kevin Nelms.
A private family service will be held.
