

A daughter of the late Clete D. Johnson and Eugenia Hailey Johnson, she was raised in Royston, Georgia, and graduated from Royston High School. She attended Agnes Scott College, graduated from the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority, and later earned a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia Tech. She began her professional career as a computer programmer and was retired from real estate sales in Atlanta.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” Marett of Athens; two daughters, Hailey Maier Reid of Atlanta and Suzy Maier of Conyers, Georgia; two stepsons, Rob Marett (Tania) of Athens, and Billy Marett (Michele) of Madison, Georgia; a grandson, Skyler Reid of Atlanta; two brothers, Don Johnson (Suzanne) of Royston, and Linton Johnson (Diane) of Elberton, Georgia; a number of step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her lifelong best friend, Jennifer Ridgway Stewart of Athens. Also surviving is Kate, her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
The family would like to thank Xiomara Ramirez for the loving and extraordinary personal care she provided to Susan, as well as the nurses and other staff members of St. Mary’s Highland Hills Village of Athens, where she was a resident the past several years.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday, June 21, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston with the Rev. Craig Topple officiating.
