Dr. Anne Sorrell Dent

On Sunday, March 26, 2023, Dr. Anne Sorrell Dent, passed away at the age of 92 in Atlanta, Georgia. Anne was born on May 18, 1930 in Washington D.C. She graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences degree from the University of Maryland in 1953. She then obtained a Master of Arts degree in History from the University of Louisville in 1983 and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Kentucky in 2001. Anne taught history in the Jefferson County public school system in Louisville, Kentucky for over thirty years. She was married to her beloved husband, James Harold Dent, for nearly sixty-five years before his death in January 2020. Anne is survived by her three children – Leslie, Wade, and Bob, her sister Doris, six grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
