In 1973, Cheri moved to Georgia with her beloved husband, Bill, where they made their home in Marietta and went on to raise their family. Cheri dedicated her life to her three daughters, lovingly guiding them while tirelessly supporting their school and extracurricular activities. She balanced her devotion to her family with her work as a bank teller and later by managing bookkeeping for a local Chick-fil-A, always approaching her responsibilities with care and diligence.
Cheri found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader, loved visiting Hilton Head, and cherished every moment spent with her six grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing tennis and bridge with her Princeton Mill neighbors, forming lasting friendships in her community. Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she took pride in sharing it with those she loved. She was also an enthusiastic sports fan, especially when cheering on her favorite teams, including the Atlanta Falcons and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Cheri is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Christine and Jeff Shockley, Karen and Brian Cohen, and Megan and Casey Bacica. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kyle and Claire Shockley; Drew and Tyler Cohen; and Austin and Grayson Bacica. She is also survived by her brother, Victor Sterne, and her sisters, Cathy Sterne and Mary Brandenburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bill Mulcahy; her parents, Carl and Mary Sterne; and her brother, Phil Sterne.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 5, at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 2443 Mount Vernon Rd., Dunwoody, GA 30338. Interment outside the church will immediately follow the Mass.
Cheri will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her deep faith, and the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone who knew her.
