
Clare Clare Hewlett Alexander, age 90, of Atlanta passed away Monday, June 14, 2010. The daughter of the late Samuel Hewlett, a former GA Supreme Court Judge, and Sarah Yancey Hewlett, Clare was born in Atlanta in 1920. She attended North Fulton High School, and then later went to Fairfax Junior College where she was the editor of the year book. For the past 14 years, Mrs. Alexander lived at Lenbrook Square, in Atlanta, where she made numerous friends. Clare will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Allen A. Alexander, and son, James Neal Alexander. Surviving Mrs. Alexander are her children, Clare A. Plafcan, of Knoxville, TN, and Allen H. Alexander, of Lenoir City, TN; grandchildren, James N. Alexander, of Frisco, TN, Cathie Old, of Wylie, TX, Daniel J. Plafcan, of Alexandria, VA, Kimberly Plafcan, of Louisville, KY; and five great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Alexander will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Cathedral of Christ The King, with a visitation 30 minutes prior to the service; interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society .
