

Noted Local Business & Community Leader – Dan Buehl Sr. Passes, “He was a force to be reckoned with…” Dan Harold Jacob Buehl., age 77, of Atlanta passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and close friends on August 8, 2014. A devoted Husband and Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Dan was born in Akron, OH on October 3, 1936. After graduating from Akron University,he later met and married Eileen Huff Buehl. Through diligence and hard work, he started his own company – Pratt & Buehl Corporation, which continued to grow and flourish, to become one of the leading and most well respected advertising agencies on both a National & International stage. Dan finally retired from Pratt & Buehl in 2012. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family reunion events he organized. He and his wife Eileen enjoyed many wonderful trips and the family traveled extensively. He enjoyed boating on Lake Lanier always expressing his love for the lake and Chris Craft boats, of which he owned several over the years. Also, classic cars, racing… and of course, the sun. Dan was a strong, devoted Christian and Lutheran, who lived his life always with a winning smile and can-do attitude, inspired by his faith. He and his wife Eileen spent many years as loyal members of Ascension Lutheran Church and were also very active participants in the University Yacht Club Chapel. He lived his last years tenaciously battling Parkinson’s disease with dignity. He is preceded in death by his parents; Harold Jacob Buehl, Elisabeth Loose Buehl and daughter Susan Buehl Porter. Survived by his wife Eileen Buehl, his son’s Terrance Fredrick Buehl and Dan Buehl Jr. along with his grandsons, Ronnie Buehl Porter & Tyler Edgeworth Porter and Great-Grand Daughter Annslee Elisabeth Porter. He also has many cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives. The world is a much better place for having had Dan in it. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00 am at the University Yacht Club and Chapel, 6649 Yacht Club Rd., Flowery Branch, GA 30542. Interment will occur at East Akron Cemetery in Akron, Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ascension Lutheran Church special music program.
