Was sorry to hear of your dad's  passing after the funeral. Growing up I always recall him driving or walking by  the house while I was doing yard work. With his passing it's one last link with my parent's generation that did so much for this nation. May you find comfort from your grief.

So sorry to hear about Dr. Griner's passing. He was one of my father's best friends in the veterinary world. He was always a gentleman and always had a good story or two. I have so many fond memories of "Ray and Ruby" as my parents called them -- Georgia football game days, Amelia Island. In later years I used to see Dr. Griner every day as he walked around Memorial Park. I was always amazed how fit and youthful he was for his age.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. Your Dad was one very special man -- he will be missed.

I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Griner.  I had the pleasure of working for him when I was in high school 1975-1978. He was a wonderful man, an exceptional mentor and my friend. It was just the other day when I mentioned Dr. Griner to a friend about how he always gave us ticket the annual Georgia JV vs Georgia Tech JV game. I remember how on Saturdays, after we closed the pet hospital he liked “open up” his Cutlass to go to get a bowl of chili at a little place on Braircliff Rd. A little story you may not know, one Saturday morning, a family came in with a small beagle that had been hit by a car. The damage was extensive and the family could not afford to pay. Dr. Griner said he would see what he could do. The family, mom, dad and the kids were devastated and crying uncontrollably, anyone could tell they loved their dog. It was a good dog. I left that day and went home. When I returned later in the afternoon to let the dogs out in the runs for a few minutes, I discovered Dr. Griner was there working to save the little dog. He was doing surgery at the time and finished up about the time I was ready to leave. Long story short, Dr. Griner saved the dog and called the owners, told them the dog was doing fine, they could come visit their pet the next morning and that there was no charge. He taught me that doing what is decent and right is more important than making money. I will miss him and always give thanks that I had the pleasure of knowing him. May the peace and love our of Heavenly Father comfort and keep you through this difficult time.

We will miss our chats with Dr. Griner, hearing his tales of times gone by--including World War II, University of Georgia, Ruby's meeting with Charles Lindbergh, and the early days of the Wildwood neighborhood.  We visited him last on his 95th birthday.  He was blessed with a long life, and had some great stories to tell. The neighborhood won't be the same without him!
