Fred was born on November 28,1950 to Louis and Margaret Bucher in Dayton, Ohio. It was an auspicious date on which his son Greg, the light of his life, would be born 31 years later.
As the eldest of four brothers, Fred embraced a lifelong sense of duty to family. He attended Precious Blood Catholic School and Church where he was also an altar server and Chaminade High School. Fred earned a business degree from Wright State University and a master’s degree from The University of Dayton where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
A natural-born salesman, Fred enjoyed a successful career in paper and retail sales that spanned several decades, including Allied Paper, Wise Business Forms, Nordstrom, and Dillard’s.
Fred and his wife Valerie moved from Dayton to Atlanta in 1986 with their son, Greg.
Fred loved sports and movies. He really loved 80s music and he had the dance moves to prove it. He was the life of the party. What he loved most of all, though, was his family. Fred's heart shone brightest for his son Greg and his grandchildren. They were his greatest joy and proudest legacy.
Being a father brought Fred immense joy, and he embraced every opportunity to share laughter and make memories with Greg. He never missed an opportunity to take Greg to a baseball card convention or autograph signing. He fostered a love of sports in Greg too and spent countless hours outside playing baseball, golf, basketball with him. When Greg was a student at Marist, Fred loved taking tickets at football games and cheering on the kids. As Greg grew older, Fred's love for him was extended to Greg's many friends who Fred also adored.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Margaret Bucher, and his brother Brian Bucher.
Fred is survived by Valerie Bucher, his son Greg (Shannan), his brothers Tom Bucher (Sherry) and Rick Bucher (Tracy), several nieces and nephews, and his adoring grandchildren Wallis, Bettie, Blanche, and his namesake, Louis.
