AVIS DE DÉCÈS

George Leighton Dickerson Jr.

28 juillet 1955 – 2 juin 2024
Avis de décès de George Leighton Dickerson Jr.
AUX SOINS DE

H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel

George Leighton Dickerson, Jr., 68, passed away on June 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 28, 1955, in Milledgeville, Georgia to Georgia Lewis Dickerson and George Leighton Dickerson, Sr.

George graduated from Northside High School in 1974, and made a lifelong career at Southeastern Hose. He held numerous positions in his 39 years at the company, spending over 30 years in sales.

A devoted husband to the late Jamie Travis Dickerson, a loving stepfather to Travis Powell and father-in-law to Bonnie Powell, and a cherished grandfather to Emma, Elle, and Kellyn, George was a pillar of strength and support for his family. George loved his family and friends deeply.

George relished his privacy and was a man of few words, but one always knew where George stood on issues he found important. He was not one to shine a light on himself. He was content playing the role of supporting actor. However, invite him to a party, and he could be found on the dance floor enjoying a good time.

Outside of work, George was passionate about his yard, golf, and his dearly departed beagles. Brother-in-law Mike Stader, and many friends over the course of his life, kept George active on the golf course, especially during his retirement. In recent years, George adopted and formed a strong bond with Daisy, his lab-mix rescue. Daisy brought George so much joy and gave him a reason to walk endless miles around his Dunwoody neighborhood.

George is survived by his sister, Cherry Payne, brother, John Dickerson, sister-in-law, Jan Travis Stader (Mike), brothers-in-law, Don Travis (Jody), Dick Travis (Tiss), and Bill Travis (Lisa), along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his sister, Gale Jamison.

George will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He touched the lives of many. Though he may no longer be with us, his memory will live on in our hearts forever. George was one of a kind.

George requested a private gathering as he is laid to rest in Sparta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LifeLine Animal Project, the Wounded Warrior Project, or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
