A successful entrepreneur and real estate magnate, Joseph Jerry Wright's philosophy was to work hard and play hard. He was an accomplished hunter and fisherman who had traveled to 60 countries. A loyal friend and terrific storyteller, he took great joy in sharing his love of life. Wright continued to find adventure even as he aged. If he couldn't ski, he would snowmobile or jet ski. If he couldn't stand in the river to fly fish, he would fish from a chair in the river. He survived being struck by lightening, charged by a hippopotamus, jumping out of a burning building, and falling off a mountain but ultimately his body gave out on December 1. Wright was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 25, 1936 to Lucius Ralph Wright, Jr. and Rita Tamsberg Wright. He graduated from Northside High School and Georgia Tech. He is survived by his one true love, Harriet Arnold; his six children: Cindy Wright, Angie Wright, Bonnie Wright, Jimmy Wright, Kathy Warden, and Joe Wright, his son-in-laws: Robert Waller, Martin Eakes, and Scott Warden; his daughter-in-law Marci Wright; and his nine grandchildren: Justin Wright-Eakes, Carlyn Wright-Eakes, Frank Norton, Luke Norton, Keegan Waller, McKenzie Waller, Reese Wright, Chloe Wright and Peyton Wright. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill followed by interment at Arlington Memorial Park.
