Jack Payson Holland (91), originally of Columbia and Greenville, SC, passed away peacefully in his home at 2302 Clairmont Road, Atlanta, on the morning of Wednesday, March 18th, 2015. After his service as a Navy Pilot during WWII, Jack earned a Bachelor's Degree in Textile Engineering from Clemson University, and was co-owner of Darling Interiors in Atlanta for many years. In addition to his successful furniture business, his investment in rental properties developed into a real estate management corporation, HMS Holland Properties. Preceding him in passing were his wife, Darling Murray Holland, his sons, Keith and Mike, his parents, James Gillam Holland and Mable Claire Humphries Holland, and his brothers, James, Robert, and Linwood Holland. Surviving family members include his son Steve, his daughter Holly Holland Stewart, and his granddaughter, Jackie Martin. Jack was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be missed, but will always be with us. He spoke with a slow southern drawl. He laughed with a saucy assurance and loved with all of his heart. A true southern gentleman, he always waited for the ladies to be served first at the table. He took care of his wife and son for many years. He had a servant’s soul. Jack has left us all with a wealth of joyful memories. He and his brothers are now together again, having a joyous reunion. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 25 at 1 o’clock at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, South Carolina 29201. Online condolences may be made at hmpattersonspringhill.com.
