James Gordon Hewell, Jr. 74, of Dunwoody, Georgia, died July 1, 2015. Mr. Hewell served in the Marine Corp Reserves for 4 years and retired from Lockheed-Martin where he was an engineer for 52 years. Mr. Hewell was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church, The Republican Party, NRA, The Georgia Conservancy and The Smithsonian Institute. Preceded in death by his parents, James Gordon Hewell, Sr. and Louise Laatsch Hewell and his sister, Anita Hewell Jenkins and brother-in-law, The Reverend John L. Jenkins. Mr. Hewell is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mignon Jordan Hewell; son, James Gregory Hewell; granddaughters, Nicole and Zoe Hewell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kay Jordan Fussell; 4 nieces and several grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 7 at 1 o’clock at Oglethorpe Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingswood United Methodist Church or The Georgia Conservancy. The family will receive friends following the service at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Brookhaven, Georgia, 30319.
