

The kindest man who ever lived. James E. Kissel was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Viola and Edward Kissel, Sr. In his early teens the family along with his brother Eddie, Edward U. Kissel Jr, moved to Birmingham. He attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After he graduated from Alabama, he did a tour of duty with the Air Force, stationed in Germany and England. He returned to Birmingham, Al where he met his wife Bea Reeves and they were married in 1959. In 1965, He moved his family to Atlanta and started Southeast Roof Decks. For a majority of his career, he operated this company with John Dumas. He was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed playing the golf tournaments with his friends at Highlands Country Club. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, The Capital City Country Club, Highlands Country Club and former member of Birmingham Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bea Kissel, son James E. Kissel Jr. (Carol), daughter Carolyn K. Harden (Neal), grandchildren Sara K. Kissel, Reeves Kissel (Brittany), and Great-grandson, James Ian Kissel.
In lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to The Schenck School - 282 Mt Paran Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30327 or the charity of your choice. There will be a family graveside service at Arlington Memorial Park.
