Joe taught school for 26 years, the past 18 at MIHS. Inspiring an appreciation of history and civics was his passionate drive in teaching, as was encouraging students to be their best selves. He was proud of his many years serving as sponsor for the Student Government Association (SGA). Outside of teaching, Joe was an avid Atlanta Braves’ fan, crossword puzzle aficionado, and movie buff. He loved going to see the sunrise at Cocoa Beach and championing the Space Program.
A public Memorial and Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, 15 September at 3 pm at MIHS Auditorium. Internment will be a private service at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Joseph Roach Scholarship at Brevard Schools Foundation.
