
Julius William Wallis, beloved father and grandfather died on September 8, 2011. Mr. Wallis was born on January 4, 1922 in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Tech High School, 1937-1940. He attended Georgia Tech beginning in 1940, finishing his degree in Industrial Management in 1948, after serving four years in the Army Air Force as a navigator on a B-24. After graduating he began working for Atlanta Gas Light Company as a measurement engineer, until retiring in 1987.He married Deloris Catherine Kotter in June of 1947. Mr. Wallis was a long time member of Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church. He served as an elder as well as singing in the choir. He and his wife, Deloris served as volunteer coordinators for the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church food pantry until her death in 2007. After her death he continued to serve in the food pantry as a volunteer. Mr. Wallis was preceded in death by his parents Carl Augustus Wallis and Mattie Jule Boston, and his beloved wife Deloris Kotter Wallis. Mr. Wallis is survived by his loving children: daughter Judith Wallis of Atlanta; son David Wallis of Atlanta: Douglas Wallis and his wife Joanne of Walhalla, South Carolina; his grandchildren Christopher and Stephanie Wallis of Atlanta; Michael and Daniel Wallis of Walhalla, South Carolina. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Ann Newman of Jacksonville, Florida and Eloise Hunt of Florida. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 13 at 2:30 at Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, 3016 Lanier Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30319. Visitation will be at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill 4550 Peachtree Road NE Atlanta, Georgia 30319, Monday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church food pantry.
