

The family and friends of June Elizabeth Boyd mourn in her unexpected death as she passed away peacefully on Sunday morning March 20, 2011 from apparent heart failure. She was born in Atlanta June 24,1942 and grew up in East Point, GA
where she attended Russell High School and later went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in
Journalism. A striking, attractive, & talented young girl, she enjoyed modeling and participating in beauty pageants where
she often won and in the spring of 1961, won the title of Miss Lake Spivey where she would meet her future husband and then
professional water skier James Boyd. She became an integral part of Lake Spivey’s waterski program and continued to compete in pageants winning the title of Miss East Point in 1962. While attending the University of Georgia, and waterskiing
in the summer, she became a Georgia Bulldog cheerleader and was also a member-president of the sorority Alpha Omicron
Pi. In 1963, June and James (Jim) Boyd were married and later went on to have 4 children together Sean, Kimberly, Kevin and
Jared Boyd. Amongst her many other accomplishments, June was one of the first women to work in journalism on camera
and was employed by WSB where she was on the morning show “Today in Georgia with Ruth Kent.” She continued to work
hard at everything she did ultimately obtaining her real estate license, becoming a broker, and for 15 years held the title of
Executive Director for The Renaissance on Peachtree. Of the many things she enjoyed, she particularly enjoyed being a
grandmother, sunsets at the beach, UGA football, traveling, running, spicy foods, and an occasional trip to Las Vegas where
she developed a unique talent for befriending slot machines who often showed their gratitude. Most importantly, June loved God, her family and her many friends. An incredible Mother, she is survived by her four children Sean Boyd of Atlanta, Kimberly Richards of New Jersey, Kevin Boyd of Charlottesville, VA, and Jared Boyd of Salt Lake City, UT along with her eight
grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all but will forever be in the thoughts and hearts of those so fortunate to have
known her. A wake will be held Wednesday March 23rd, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son in Brookhaven and a
memorial service will be held this Thursday March 24th,at 3:00 p.m.at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. More information may
