

Karen Finnegan Rohrer, age 64, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, GA following an extended illness. Mrs. Rohrer was born in Richmond, KY to John and Juanita Finnegan and attended Assumption High School. She graduated from Bellarmine College in Louisville, KY and, after the birth of her son, Michael, she went on to obtain her law degree from Georgia State University. She married the love of her life, Jim Rohrer, in 1993, and had a long and successful career as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Global Payments in Atlanta. Karen was a skilled attorney, but it was her caring nature that drew people to her. Being generous, she was passionate about supporting her favorite charities. A selfless mother, she worked diligently to meet the needs of her family, often sacrificing her own comfort to care for those she loved. She was a devoted daughter, loving sister, and loyal friend who made everyone around her feel special. She was intelligent and loved to learn new things, often teaching herself the language of any country she planned to visit. She was an avid reader who could converse intelligently on nearly any subject, and she was a Jeopardy champion. She was a bright light in this world whose courage and strength shone even stronger as she battled against illness. She kept the beautiful smile that lit up the hearts of all those around her. Karen was preceded in death by her father, John. She is survived by her husband, Jim; mother, Juanita; son Michael (Gleva); step-son Nicholas (Kerry); sister LouAnne (John); brother Patrick (Susan); and one beautiful granddaughter, Kaylin Brooke her newest joy in her life. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held at H.M. Patterson and Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel on Thursday, October 30 from 6-8 PM with a rosary service at 7:30 PM. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 31 at Christ the King Cathedral in Buckhead, GA. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Floral Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Society at GAOvarianCancer.org. There will be a memorial service held in Louisville, KY at a time to be announced.
