Larry attended Mohawk Valley College in Utica. He was a businessman and entrepreneur in the telecom and advertising industries prior to his retirement. He was a US Navy Veteran and served on the USS Saratoga.
Larry was married to his wife, Debbie, for 28 years. Debbie says there was never a dull moment, that he made her laugh every day. Larry had a keen sense of humor and could be quite the practical joker always keeping her on her toes as to what would come next. Debbie will never forget their first ski trip to Utah where Larry talked a good game until reaching half way up the lift and looking at her to ask in all seriousness “now tell me, how do you get off this lift?”
Larry was a great storyteller and enjoyed impersonating singer, Neil Diamond. So much so that his daughter, Lauren, at a young age was convinced he was Neil Diamond. She would invite her friends over to see him performed in their living room. Larry’s singing voice was actually quite similar to the singers! Larry cherished his time spent with his children and grandchildren. He spun very creative tales for each of them, regaling them with flamboyant stories. He even composed a song for two of his pre-school grandsons at the time; one grandson played it on the drums, even while in “timeout”. It was entitled,
“My Dog Has Fleas.”
Larry enjoyed several activities and hobbies, including his tennis, cooking and gardening. True to his Italian heritage, Larry was known for his pasta and sauce and loved sharing his cooking with family and friends. Larry could often be found working hard in his garden, his green thumb was evident in more than one friend’s backyard. Larry was also a member of Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Sandy Springs.
Larry is survived by his wife, Debbie Pinto; daughter Lauren Pinto; son Alfonso (Ashley) Pinto; brother Anthony (Maria) Pinto; sister Frances Pinto; grandchildren Taylor Pipher; Brendan Pipher; Greyson Pinto; Landry Pinto and Gavin Pinto; brother-in-law Steve Roland; Brother-in-law Kenneth (Sandi) Roland and many loved nieces and nephews
