Linette Janell Singleton was born February 15, 1968 in Rockledge, Florida to Mary Ann Singleton (née Young) and Linell Singleton, Sr. Linette Janell Singleton passed away, Saturday, March 16, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia after a life dedicated to service to the community, love, laughter and family.
After living in Gainesville, Florida for much of her childhood, Linette moved to Atlanta, Georgia, a city she loved. She graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing in 1995; however, she would tell you her heart was always with her beloved University of Georgia. Linette dedicated her life to helping others, both professionally and personally. She was an avid member of a number of civic organizations and spent her career working tirelessly in the nonprofit sector.
Linette’s life truly exemplified “service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth”. She launched a consulting firm Singleton Consulting Group, Inc. to assist the development of burgeoning nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit Diversity was another organization she developed, a resource to help nonprofits build more inclusive workplaces. Most recently she was the Vice President of Operations at Partnership for Southern Equity where she melded her passions for community building, equity and marketing.
Her smile and laughter were infectious, filling any room and calling attention to her beautiful spirit. Linette fiercely loved her friends and family, never missing a chance to update you on “her girls”. She was vivacious, passionate, determined and never met a challenge she could not overcome. All of these qualities live on in the people who knew and loved Linette.
Linette leaves a legacy of unwavering commitment to service. Her love of reading, drinking a good bottle of wine, stimulating conversation, quality chocolate or how she could never turn down a vacation will not be forgotten. Linette wanted to touch every part of the world and build communities strengthened by racial and economic equity. We will miss her ability to make you laugh until you cried and how she took any game way too seriously. She was brave, fearless and lived life to the fullest. Linette was one of a kind.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Singleton and father, Linell Singleton.
