

Mary Virginia Thomas Sewell went home to be with her Lord on August 25, 2014. She was born July 6, 1930, the second daughter of Constantine Duncan Thomas and Virginia Raisbeck Thomas. An Atlanta native, she graduated from Washington Seminary, and then attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Phi Mu fraternity. She graduated with honors with a degree of in Home Economics. In the summer of 1952, she married the love of her life, Warren Palmer Sewell, Jr. They briefly lived in Bremen, Ga., and moved to Atlanta in 1962. She had many interests, and was a member of the Pine Forrest Garden Club, the Ladies Investment Club, Ltd., Cherokee Town and Country Club and Northside Untied Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting, traveling, and spending time at the beach with her family. She was grateful, always, to be a breast cancer survivor for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 1/2 years in December of 2013. She is survived by her 2 loving daughters Valee Sewell Penn (Dave); Kay Sewell Lore (Steve); her two grandsons Stephen Lore and William Lore; and her sister Betty Thomas Lewis. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, August 28 at 11 o'clock at Northside United Methodist Church at 2799 Northside Drive, NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30305. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Northside United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice.
