Nancy Ewing Barksdale, 82, of Atlanta died January 6, 2011. Born in Augusta, Georgia, Nancy was the daughter of Whitley Lay Ewing and Mary Waters Ewing. Preceded in death by her husband, James Lawrence Barksdale, III, she is survived by her son, James Lawrence Barksdale, IV, daughter, Anne Barksdale Barnard, grandchildren, David Andrew Kirschner, Robert Daniel Kirschner, Meaghan-Shi Evelyn Barksdale and Graceanne Yun Qing Barksdale, sister, Mary Lay Derrick (Robert), nephews, Rod Derrick (Nancy), Whit Derrick (Linda) and Steve Derrick (Mitzie), grandnieces, Alissa, Ginny, Ashley, Lauren and Kelsey. A celebration of her life will begin with the family receiving friends at 3pm Friday, January 14th followed by the funeral service at 4pm at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30319. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 15th at 12pm at the Walker Cemetery in Augusta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Atlanta Community Food Bank or to the Atlanta Humane Society.
