
Peter George Gantsoudes, who for the last 25 years gave daily lessons on overcoming adverse fate, passed away November 13, 2011, at Piedmont Hospital. A long-time Buckhead resident, Peter was a former banker and a dedicated father whose perseverance over a neurological disorder that struck him as a young adult became a source of admiration among family and friends. He was 59. Born and raised in Danville, Va., he was the son of the late George D. Gantsoudes and Helen Kanos Gantsoudes. After graduating from George Washington High School, Peter received a BS in Finance from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. Peter moved to Atlanta to work for Trust Company Bank and worked for Branch and Associates. He soon met the love of his life, Lillian Rudolph, and the couple remained married for 32 years. He is survived by their two daughters, Josephine Helen Calamari and her husband Matthew Evan Calamari, of Atlanta, and Lillian Lochrane Gantsoudes, of Charlotte, N.C. An avid Atlanta sports fan, Peter held a special allegiance to his beloved UVA 'Hoos. In addition to his Atlanta family, Peter is survived by his mother Helen and his sister Betsy Robeson and husband Steve of Santa Fe, N.M. He is predeceased by his brother James D. Gantsoudes, formerly of New York. He was a member of the Piedmont Driving Club and attended All Saints Episcopal Church. A Memorial Service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta on Tuesday, November 15th at 1PM with a reception to follow.
