Ronald Warren Atkinson, a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated serviceman, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 17, 2026 at the age of 77, in Macon, GA. Born on January 28, 1949, in Junction City, Kansas to the late Floyd Warren Atkinson and Betty Jean Hooper, Ron lived a life defined by strength of character, deep conversation, and a quiet generosity that left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew him.
Ron was an athletic youth enjoying wrestling, football and motorcycles. After high school, he proudly joined the Marines and bravely served his country as Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. While starting a family in Minnesota, he launched his own maintenance business until a career opportunity brought him to New York City. He led DynaServe Industries as President & CEO and partner for over 30 years servicing iconic buildings such as the World Trade Center and the Empire State Building.
While Ron achieved great professional success through tireless dedication and an unwavering work ethic, nothing meant more than family. He delighted in speaking of his children and grandchildren, and cherished his loving marriage.
He loved to get family and friends to gather at The Land in Sherburne, NY and many of his favorite memories were of riding his tractor and sitting by the campfire with loved ones.
He often carried himself with a serious demeanor, but those closest to him knew his playful side. With family and friends, he enjoyed telling jokes and performing animated skits, complete with unforgettable comic voices.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Atkinson; his children Kelly (Diana), Brandon (Kasia), Nichole (Ben), and Lauren (Peter); his siblings Patsy, Jacque, and Frosty, 7 grandchildren (Catherine, Chance, Kasper, Theo, Alex, Chase and Logan) and 2 great grandchildren (Leo and Lillian).
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on February 28 at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel at 2:30 pm, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
Semper Fi, Ron. Your strength, your kindness, and your love will remain with us always.
