

A bright and shining light wherever she went, Joy truly lived up her name. A native Atlantan, she was born on December 28, 1924. Joy graduated from North Avenue Presbyterian School, (NAPS) and attended the University of Georgia. She was a member of the garden club, a volunteer at Scottish Rite Hospital, a founding member of Northside Methodist Church, and in recent years a member of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church. She also was a great lover of dogs and over the years rescued numerous strays.
Joy was preceded in death by her husbands Charles Donaldson Munroe Sr who died in 1974 and Paul E Manners who died in 2012. She is survived by her children, Charles Donaldson Munroe and his wife Mary Hovas Munroe, Kathy Munroe Hiller and her husband Daniel Philip Hiller, Thomas Berg Munroe and Elizabeth Chatov, and her stepson, Neal Manners and his wife Linda, her step-daughter-in-law Kella Barnhart, her grandchildren, Sara Munroe Owens, Rebecca Munroe Brack and her husband, Michael Munroe Hiller, Matthew Aaron Hiller, Emily Maud Munroe, and Samuel Patrick Munroe, her great granddaughter, Margaret Munro Owens, and her step-grandchildren, Meredith M. Manners and her husband and her children, Robert Manners and his wife and their children, Jeffrey Manners, Paul Manners, and Kelly L. Manners.
Joy enjoyed her grandchildren enormously and had great fun with them. She gave them nicknames, and called herself “The Inspector.” She was generous and loving to her family and friends and will be missed by all.
Services will be on August 24th at 2PM at H. M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill with interment following at Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening between 5PM to 7PM at Spring Hill.
