Shirley was born at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, to Floyd Alonzo McClure and Nellie Baker McClure on June 30th, 1945. Her dedication to family was foundational to who she was, and there was no sacrifice she wouldn’t make for the ones she loved. Along with helping her parents raise her younger siblings, she was employed for most of her life starting at a young age. She ended her career, after 25 years of dedicated service, as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service.
Shirley was preceded in death by: father, Floyd Alonzo McClure; mother, Nellie Baker McClure; and Vance McClure Sr., Gennell Barfield, Floyd McClure, Nadine McDaniel, and Danny McClure.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Eddie Cartier and Don Cartier; two brothers, Mike McClure and David McClure; and her sister, Jane Posey.
Shirley’s final wishes were for the cremation of her remains, and for there to be no service or viewing of any kind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.
