

Born on August 18, 1972, Steve was originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but made his home in Atlanta, Georgia for the last 20+ years. As Founder & CEO of Shamrock Prosthetics, Steve led with vision and purpose, strategically transforming the prosthetics industry through innovation and compassion. As an amputee himself, he was able to connect with his patients in an incredibly unique way that made them feel seen and provided them with desperately needed hope, even in their darkest of days. His own accident became his motivation and drive to not only change but improve the prosthetic industry’s standard of patient care. The outpouring of love and support since his death from friends, patients, vendors, and colleagues, is a testament to the incredible impact Steve has made to all lucky enough to have known him, as well as his enduring legacy.
In 2011, Steve was named to Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 under 40 list of Rising Business Leaders. In 2015, he opened the doors to Shamrock Prosthetics, and in 2017, he received the Georgia State Board of Workers Compensation Annual Spirit Award. Steve was a member of the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation Annual Conference Medical Advisory Committee, and in 2024, Steve was appointed by the Chairman of the Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation to serve on the Advisory Council as a member of the Rehabilitation & Managed Care Committee. He has been featured in many prominent news publications and was a frequently requested speaker at many conferences across the country.
Prior to establishing Shamrock, Steve’s successful marketing expertise landed him major positions with some of the most prestigious consumer brands including Gatorade, The Coca-Cola Company and Budweiser, among others. Throughout his life, Steve was a standout athlete. He served as Captain of Boston University’s Division I Basketball Team, was named Boston University's Winter Sports Scholar Athlete of the Year, and was featured as the cover story in Scottsdale Health Magazine. He remained an avid golfer throughout his life. In addition, he remained a loyal fan of and tireless advocate for his beloved high school, St. Ignatius in Ohio.
Steve’s personality was as big as his heart. He never met a stranger who he couldn’t befriend, and could always strike up a conversation anywhere, captivating listeners. A member of the Cathedral of Christ the King, Steve’s faith was a guiding force in everything he did. His staff and patients were his greatest joy, and he celebrated each of their successes - personal and professional - as if they were his own.
Steve is survived by his mother, Jane Ann Ehretsman; father, Hal Ehretsman; and brother, Jack Ehretsman.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 10:00 am at Cathedral of Christ The King, 2699 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30305 .
A memorial mass in celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 10:00 am at the St. Ignatius High School Chapel .
