

Ted graduated from E. Rivers Elementary School and North Fulton High School. He was an Eagle Scout and member of Troop 1 Peachtree Heights. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Chemistry, and then went to the University of Virginia where he earned a degree in Law, served on the Virginia Law Review, and was recognized as a member of the Raven Society. Upon graduation he returned to Atlanta to begin a career practicing law under the guidance of his mentor E. Smythe Gambrell. In that same year, he married Margaret Paty from Memphis, Tennessee, and the couple had a long and loving marriage of sixty years. Ted's legal career in Atlanta spanned more than forty years as a partner in one of Atlanta's most prominent firms.
Ted was a lifetime member of the Capital City Club, where he worked for years on his golf game, a sport he loved immensely. He was a member of the Atlanta Kiwanis Club, and served on the Board of the Shepherd Spinal Center. He is survived by his wife Peggy who lives in Buckhead, his daughter Margaret Paty Forbes of Boston, and his son Ted Forbes, III of Park City, Utah. He has four grandchildren who are near and dear to his heart: Caroline Christie Forbes and Theodore McCoy Forbes, IV of Park City, Utah; Elisabeth Reid Forbes of Phoenix, Arizona and Margaret Rhodes Forbes of Charlottesville, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at Northside United Methodist Church this Saturday, September 28 at 11am where Ted was a member.
