

Virginia Freeman Jacobs Edens, age ninety-nine, died on July 4, 2012. Services will be held in the Chapel of The Cathedral of St. Philip at 2 o’clock on Monday, July 9, 2012 with The Reverend Canon George M. Maxwell officiating. Ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden at St. Philip.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Mrs. Edens was predeceased by John Meredith Edens, Jr., her husband of fifty-nine years. She was also predeceased by her brother, Edwin G. Jacobs, Jr. She was the daughter of the late Virginia Freeman and Edwin G. Jacobs of Macon, GA. Virginia was a graduate of the University of Georgia in Athens where she was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The High Museum of Art, The Atlanta Historical Society, Atlanta Music Club, Rabun Gap Nacoochee Guild, St. Agnes Guild of The Cathedral of St. Philip, and other civic organizations.
She is survived by her devoted South Carolina cousins, Julian Jacobs Nexsen and his children and their spouses, Ivey and Dicky Bouknight and Jay and Christy Nexsen.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Virginia’s many devoted friends and to her caregivers, Minnie Hall and Monica Jones.
